Thank you!! We're actually reading Kindred for book club next month over at The Gathering (my other publication/space)!! I just read Sula by Toni Morrison recently and haven't been able to stop thinking about it. Definitely moving Jazz up higher on the list and adding The Coldest Winter!

Girl, Kindred is good. That will make for excellent conversation/ material.

Jazz is my FAVORITE Toni Morrison book, and one of my favorite books ever.

Coldest Winter Ever is certainly street lit/ urban fiction. I do consider it a classic.

I suggest ANY story or novel by Octavia Butler, Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, Meditations by Zadie Smith (nonfiction written in 2020 just FYI)
